Leslie West did an extreamly short set at the new Hard Rock Live located at Universal Studios in Orlando Florida. His set was just over 35 minutes leaving many fans in the audience dissapointed. He was recovering from heart bypass surgery only a week earlier, so I imagine that was the major factor in the short set. He didn't look good at all, quite drawn and pale, although his playing seemed to be unaffected. About halfway through Mississippi Queen, he seemed to lose energy and the set ended quickly after that. He did play Nantucket Sleighride, Crossroads, Mississippi Queen and one other song during the set. At the beginning of Nantucket Sleighride, he talked about what the song is about. It describes the ride the whalers go on after spearing a whale from the small boats when the whale tries to escape from the whalers and drags the whaling boats along after them. He also mentioned that you should NEVER buy your wife or girlfriend a gun as she might shoot you with it like Felix Paparladi's (Mountains bass player and producer) wife did several years back. I disagree with his attitude regarding gun control.
