Skippers Smoke House 9 Sep 00
It was a hot night in Tampa Florida when Indigenous
took the stage at Skippers Smoke House. Skippers is an outdoor venue
and it was hot and muggy this night and the music was as hot as the
weather. Opening act Damon Fowler put on a smoking set which was
followed up by Indigenous with Mato Nanji on guitar. Indigenous is a
family affair with brother Pte on bass, sister Wanbdi on drums and cousin Horse on percussion. Having the extra percussion adds a Santana like
flavor to the sound which I thought was really cool. The ending song
for the main set was "Third Stone From The Sun" which mixed
Santana and Hendrix together and rocked the house sort of like Hendrix
doing Santana or Santana doing Hendrix....in any case it was great.
Here are some photos from Skippers. I also caught Indigenous at the
House Of Blues a couple nights earlier but the camera Gestapo did not
allow photos so I had to wait till the Skippers show for photos. I
also was able to set up a short interview with Mato which you can read by
clicking HERE. Click Next for MORE PHOTOS of Indigenous!!!!
